Final College App Deadlines Approaching

by Kathryn Knight

College application deadlines are approaching for many schools.  Are all parts for your applications in?  Or are you still getting phone call reminders from Admissions Officers?

The good news is that it’s not too late.  Typically, Admissions offices will accept late materials as long as you call in and let them know they’re on their way.  So if you haven’t completed your application, make sure you mail those missing pieces in the next few days.  Also, if you completed the Common App, be sure that all of your supplemental pieces were received as well—your transcript, secondary school report, letters of recommendation, etc.

If you do have all of your materials turned in…congratulations!  There are some next steps you can take in the admissions process though (it’s never-ending, right?).  Call in to each school you’ve applied to and make sure they have all of your materials.  Although e-mail may be more convenient, a phone call will be less likely to “slip through the cracks.”  Obviously, your admissions officers have a lot on their plates right now.

After all of your hard work filling out multiple college applications, it would be a waste for any to be overlooked because materials are missing.  If you’ve completed your applications and you’re 100% sure that admissions committees have all the required materials, it’s time to take a breather…for about a week.  Soon, you’ll need to start on those scholarship apps!
