Hello Parents,

Now that your student has made Morehead her/her home-away-from-home, let me tell you about Morehead and all it has to offer. This community is enriched with natural beauty. It is surrounded by the Daniel Boone National Forest and only a few minutes from Cave Run Lake, the “Muskie Capitol of the South”.

There are beautiful hiking and biking trails around Morehead and Cave Run Lake for the outdoor enthusiast to enjoy. A day at Cave Run Lake is a must. There are boat rentals at Scott Creek Marina and a beautiful beach at Twin Knobs Recreational Area

Morehead also offers some wonderful shopping. Our downtown has some wonderful gift shops and we also offer some great antique shops and malls. Don’t miss out on the Kentucky Folk Art Center, located across from the new Morehead Conference Center. The Folk Art Center is lodged in the historic Union Grocery and offers visitors a unique cultural experience. The newly restored Rowan County Arts Center is located adjacent to campus and houses several local artisans.

There are several restaurants that the locals favor and I’m sure you will come to love them also as you come to Morehead to visit. We hope you will visit often.

For more information please feel free to stop by our office in the Morehead Conference Center at 111 East First Street or visit our web site or call 1-800-654-1944.

We look forward to meeting you and hope that you will make Morehead your home-away-from-home for the next few years.

Sincerely,

Terri Alderman
