Waist-Less and Meatless Mondays Promote Healthier Eating

Posted in

We are noticing increasing numbers of our students eating "Flexitarian." Flexitarians aren't Vegetarians but rather eat meat on occasion and consciously make food choices with their health in mind. To accommodate this growing demand, Chartwells at Dominican introduced two campaigns this Fall to educate students about making healthier dining choices. Waist-Less focuses on proper portioning and features a number of delicious, low-fat menu items such as Chickpea and Tomato Salad, White Beans with Roasted Red Pepper and Pesto, and Warm Armenian Lentils with Yogurt.

The Meatless Monday campaign raises awareness about the benefits of whole grains, fruits, and vegetables by asking students to commit on day per week (Mondays) to eating the daily recommended intake for each group by the American Dietetic Association.
