The Princeton Review announces its 2010 Best Value Colleges

Just like everything else, education costs are rising, but good value can still be found, particularly at the University of Virginia. The Princeton Review just announced its 2010 Best Value Colleges, and the University of Virginia was named the best value in public schools.

Swarthmore College gives the biggest bang for your buck among private schools, according to the Princeton Review.

Value in post-secondary education is becoming increasingly important as more students than not are graduating with education debt. In the 2007-2008 academic year, 59 percent of all students completing a degree graduated with education debt, according to a study conducted by The College Board, a non-profit membership association that connects students to college success and opportunity.

The median level of that debt for bachelor’s degree recipients at public schools was $17,700 and $22,375 for students graduating from private schools.

Ten percent of 2007-2008 bachelor’s degree recipients graduated with over $40,000 in education debt.
