Summer Orientation Volunteers Needed

Remember when you were a brand new parent entering the halls of IIT? Well, there will soon be another group of new parents visiting campus this summer. With summer orientation around the corner IIT is looking for parent/family volunteers to assist new parents with their transition. The summer orientation dates are:

Session I: June 24 & 25
Session II: June 28 & 29
Session III: July 8 & 9
Session IV: July 12 & 13
Session V: July 15 & 16
 
Parent/family volunteers are invited to be greeters, sit on a parent/family panel and share your personal experiences, be "e-mail pals" with new parents & family members, and/or to write for this newsletter. More information for each volunteer aspect is listed below.

  • Greeters: Assist with Parent/Family check in. Greet new families, answer questions, and make them feel at home on campus.
  • Panel Members: During the Parent/Family Transition program we will have a panel of parents to discuss personal experiences, answer questions, and offer advice to new parents & families.
  • E-mail Pal: We understand that not everyone can come to campus but we would still love your participation. You would be paired up with a new parent/family member via e-mail. A simple introduction of yourself, family, and IIT experience is all you need to share and open a dialogue with someone new.
  • Newsletter authors: Do you information to share with new and current parents? Submit an article for the IIT Parent Newsletter and share your thoughts.

Limited on-campus, overnight accommodations are available, upon request for orientation volunteers during the above listed orientation dates only. All volunteers will receive lunch and dinner on Day 1 and breakfast on Day 2 (if applicable) at no cost.
