The Staff Helping Students Succeed mentor program consists of staff across campus willing to help freshmen and transfer students transition to life at Chico State. Mentors are committed to helping students grow into the culture of the University and helping them navigate the challenges of attending a new school.
What mentors do:
- Provide students with useful information about Chico State, and offer social and emotional support
- Familiarize students with various resources on campus and in the community
- Provide tools for success to help students get the most from their Chico experience, including information about co-curricular activities
- Help students establish important networks
- Organize events to help new students meet other students and mentors

SHSS has several events planned for the spring, including pizza parties, movie nights, and ballroom dance lessons.
