City of Azusa and Surrounding Area
Azusa Pacific University is located in the city of Azusa, a small-town atmosphere in the heart of sunny Southern California. Within a 45-minute drive are numerous beaches, mountain resorts, state parks, sports arenas, Disneyland, Hollywood, Los Angeles, and famous cultural centers for music, theater, and art. The campus is within walking distance to restaurants, movie theaters, pharmacies, grocery stores, clothing stores, banks, churches, and apartments.
Azusa
The city of Azusa, founded in 1887, is situated 27 miles northeast of Los Angeles, and is nestled against the San Gabriel Mountain foothills. The city encompasses 9.13 square miles and has a population of approximately 45,000. The community of Azusa offers hiking trails, parks, a golf course, a community garden, and a farmer’s market that runs throughout the summer. Mayor Joe Rocha is actively involved in promoting relationship building between APU and the city of Azusa, encouraging students to reach out and connect with local residents.
Glendora
Glendora has evolved from a small agricultural town to a thriving city of more than 55,000 residents who are focused on maintaining its original values and charm. People choose to live in Glendora primarily because it is a city with strong family values, good educational opportunities, a safe environment, a high quality of life, and beautiful, pristine foothills surrounding it. Known as the “Pride of the Foothills,” Glendora is a community well balanced between residential and business opportunities. The city maintains high standards in housing, offers beautiful parks, prides itself on its senior and teen center, and has its own library facility.

Azusa Pacific University affords its students easy access to all that Southern California has to offer. Students enjoy visiting theme parks like Disneyland, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Knott’s Berry Farm, Universal Studios Hollywood, Raging Waters, and Medeival Times; Hollywood attractions like the legendary Walk of Fame, major television studios, the Hollywood Bowl, the Greek Theater, and Sunset Boulevard; airports like Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Ontario International Airport; and outdoor attractions like the San Gabriel Mountains, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Santa Monica Pier, Venice Beach, and Catalina Island.
