University of Arkansas Parent Guide
Know Your Student's Meal Plan
Every meal plan has two components: MEALS and FLEX$. Plan information is loaded on your student's ID card. The Chartwells cashier simply swipes your student's ID to spend meals or Flex$-fast and convenient!
Meals
Your student can use these in any of the three dining halls on campus. Located at the Northwest Quad, Brough Commons and Pomfret, the dining halls are not anything like a college dining experience from decades past. These are all-you-care-to-eat spots offering everything from custom pasta bowls, fresh veggies, entrees, and ethnic dishes to salads, pizzas, burgers and more.
Flex $
Your student can spend these in any Chartwells retail location to buy food and drinks. You can also use Flex$ to buy a guest meal in any dining hall. They are re-loadable in two increments of $50 per semester. Your student can identify these locations by looking for the green FLEX$ icon on the door of these locations.
Meal Trades & Late Night
During evening hours as posted in the Union Food Court, The Hill Grill and Papa John's/Quiznos your student can use a plan meal to purchase food.
In a Hurry at Lunch? Go Brough-A-Go-Go
This is a quick take out option that is available Monday through Friday for lunch. Here your student can use their meal plan, simply choose what they want from the daily menu, have the cashier swipe their ID and then carry their lunch wherever they want or need to go. Brough-A-Go-Go is located next to Club Red on the first floor of Brough Commons.
Remember: Meals and Flex$ expire at the end of each semester. Have your student check their balance with a Chartwells cashier or at the ID office.
Is Your Student Living Off Campus? Meal Plans Save You More Than You Think!
If your student is living off campus, then they're probably budgeting to cover all sorts of living expenses. Meal Plans can help save money versus eating off campus or buying meals in the dining halls one at a time. It also saves gas and your student's parking space! Special diet need?
No problem. To address celiac, food allergy, or vegetarian preferences, have your student contact their Dining Hall Director.
