Learn More about Student Life Involvement Opportunities
With over 150 student organizations housed in the Department of Student Life at Kennesaw State University,  it is beneficial for your student(s) to identify what type of organization he/or she may be interested in joining. Our student organizations are responsible for the majority of the student run programs and events held on campus each year including concerts, lectures, special events, spirit rallies, cultural activities, social events, and conferences.  There are many options for students to explore to find their fit during their academic journey with KSU.  As parents, we want you to explore the numerous opportunities available within the Department of Student Life and help us articulate the benefit of becoming involved outside of the academic classroom setting. Most employers are in search of competitive job candidates who can articulate their learning applied to practice, and student organizations reinforce the academic curriculum.   This semester, remind your students to:

Participate
Student organizations are perfect outlets to try new things and meet new people.  Let them discover the wonders of Chemistry even if they major in English.  Find out if they would join a choir, plan an event, manage an organization's funds as a treasurer. Participation is the best way to simultaneously explore new things and practice the skills learned in class.

Connect
Student organizations also provide opportunities to work with new people and develop a sense of community tailored to their unique interests away from home.  Highlight the value of working with a committee to bring a speaker to campus. Help them to envision collaborations with other organizations to make their own vision and ideas bigger and better. Challenge them to engage in and become part of the larger KSU community.

Discover
Student organizations create real life events that challenge what students know about themselves and the world. Remind them to discover their strengths and weaknesses and new ways to achieve excellence. Support them as they learn to be effective leaders and work for social change through student run organizations. Request that they constantly look for opportunities for self-evaluation and skill development
