myMiami for Families

A web portal account, may be made available to you through your Miami student.

Through this system, your student will be able to grant you electronic access to information from the Office of the Registrar (grades, class schedule), Bursar (detailed charges on student accounts, major bills), Student Financial Assistance (scholarship/loan information), and Meal Plan information.

Access is granted by the student from his/her myMiami account under “Sharing Access to your Personal Records”. After you have been granted access, myMiami for Families will offer you the quickest and easiest entry to important campus information. You will receive an email notifying you if your student gives you access to information.

If you receive an email notification that you have been granted access to part of your student’s records, you will use your email address as your username and will be asked to choose a password. From that time forward, you will use your username and password to log in to your own myMiami account. This information will be covered during Orientation sessions.

The FERPA also gives a student’s parents, guardians, or other designated persons the right to review the student record if the student is claimed as a dependent on the parents’ Federal Income Tax Return. If a student does not complete the authorization on myMiami, parents may submit a signed copy of their 2011 Federal Income Tax Return verifying that they claim the student as a dependent for IRS purposes. If you choose this method, it will be necessary to re-send the IRS information each year that your son or daughter is at Miami.

For additional information on the FERPA and comprehensive financial aid information, take a look at the Financial Aid web site.

The Financial Aid 101 booklet is an excellent resource for students and families.
