Penn strongly recommends that all students have rental insurance coverage. Rental insurance can protect your student from unplanned and out-of-pocket expenses associated with replacing valuable possessions that may be lost, stolen or damaged in a college resident hall or off campus apartment.

While your homeowner’s policy may cover students – there may be limitations. With your own rental policy, all types of property can be insured against losses, including clothes, books, electronics, computer hardware and software. Student insurance also covers personal liability for unintentional damage of another resident’s unit or property. Insurance policies created especially for students offer high value at a minimum cost.

Penn has identified Next Generation Insurance (NGI) as an option for our students as NGI works directly with Universities to develop insurance policies specifically designed for college students and their families and has plans that meet Penn’s recommended requirements. Incoming students to Penn are already qualified and guaranteed acceptance.
