Even though the spring semester is just winding down, we are already gearing up for Family Weekend on October 12-14, 2012. A long-standing Mason tradition, Family Weekend is a time for families to take part in the same spirit that embraces our students on campus throughout the academic year. This weekend of fun-filled events gives you a glimpse into your student's life, including a showcase of Mason's academic excellence and the energy of our vibrant campus.
The schedule of events includes a welcome dinner featuring opening remarks from the Provost, Mason Madness, DC bus tour, trip to Gunston Hall (the home of George Mason), wine tasting, comedian, 5K run/walk, barbeque and game show, kid zone, book presentation, drive-in movie, theatre performances, athletic events and so much more! Also, keep a look out for an opportunity for your student to nominate your family for the Alan and Sally Merten Family of the Year award which will be presented at the welcome dinner on Friday night.
Registration will open in June at masonfamily.gmu.edu. Be sure to register early because our popular events such as the welcome dinner, wine tasting and bus tours of DC reach capacity quickly.
Events will continue to be added to the Family Weekend schedule throughout the summer. So, if you want to stay up-to-date on our latest additions, "like" the George Mason Family Association on Facebook! To see a tentative schedule of events and to register please visit our website.
We look forward to seeing you at Family Weekend this October!
