"Life is far too rich, interesting and short to waste on hating your body" (Author Unknown).

In our image obsessed culture that promotes an unrealistic standard of beauty, many women and men are overly self-critical and dissatisfied with their bodies and selves. Does your student worry so much about the way he/she looks that it interferes with his/her self-esteem? Does your student measure his/her self-worth solely on appearance? If so, the Body Acceptance and Self-Kindness group, also known as B.A.S.K, may be a great fit for your student. BASK is a free confidential group that is being offered to UA students who strive to embrace a healthy self-image. Encourage your student to call Dr. Kerry Luke, Counseling Center Staff Psychologist, at 348-3863 to a schedule a BASK consultation.

Talking with Your Student About Alcohol

For many parents, bringing up the subject of alcohol is no easy matter. Your student may try to dodge the discussion, and you yourself may feel unsure about how to proceed. The Office of Student Judicial Affairs feels that this is a much needed conversation. Think of this talk with your student as the first part of an ongoing conversation. You don't need to cover everything at once. In fact, you're likely to have a greater impact on your student's decisions about drinking by having a number of talks about alcohol use.

Staff members welcomed students to spin the wheel to see how well they "know the code". The Office of Student Judicial Affairs encourages parents and students to be aware of the Code of Student Conduct, and more importantly the consequences of violating the Code. Below are common violations of first year students.
