Summer and Fall 2010 Housing

If your student wishes to live on campus in 2010/2011, they can now re-contract for campus housing using the housing application on the myBama Web site.  Students must re-contract by February 1, 2010 in order to be eligible for online room selection. No money is due with the initial housing application. The $250.00 deposit will be due shortly after the February 1st re-contracting deadline; Housing and Residential Communities will e-mail each student who has submitted a housing application with more information regarding the contract and deposit.

Parent Ambassadors- Encourage your student to apply!

The Parent Ambassadors are a select, dynamic team of University of Alabama students who serve the Capstone during Parent Orientation. Ambassadors play a critical role in welcoming new students, parents and family members to campus and familiarize parents with campus, procedures, programs, and opportunities. Ambassadors learn professional skills, build their resumes and make a difference in the campus community. Encourage your student to fill out an application at www.parents.ua.edu. Applications are due Friday, October 23 at 5 pm.

The UA Peer Mentor program matches upperclassmen with freshman students in order to provide assistance in the transition from high school to college. Peer Mentors support freshman students in the following ways: facilitating the development of a support network for incoming students; teaching freshman students how to navigate UA systems and utilize campus resources; and assisting freshmen in articulating and pursuing their goals at UA and beyond.

The beginning of a new academic year brings with it lots of excitement and new possibilities! It's also a great time for your student to consider how to get involved on campus. The Office of Student Involvement & Leadership will sponsor Student Involvement Week August 24-28, a time to explore and connect with a variety of student groups and activities on campus. Our motto is "don't just build a resume; find your passion!" There really is something for everyone-a place where each student can thrive. A full schedule of events is available at http://leadership.ua.edu and includes themes such as "Get Involved, Give Back," "Get Involved, Get Creative," and much more. Encourage your son or daughter to participate in this series of fun events designed to help each student find a niche at UA. For more information, contact the Office of Student Involvement & Leadership at (205) 348-6114.
