Mark writes in his Gospel to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength" (Mark 12:30). This passage sums up the essence of APU's education philosophy: developing disciples and scholars who impact the world for Christ. Student-scholars honor God through academic excellence, and then empty themselves out in service to the community, to those in physical and spiritual need down the street and around the world. Through chapel, small groups, missions trips, retreats, service projects, and classes, APU integrates faith development throughout the undergraduate experience.

APU graduates are known for professional excellence, the highest ethical standards, and their desire to make a difference in the world. Among them include alumni who work to help stop the human trafficking of young Nepali women, started a social business in the heart of Zambia, actively serve and love the people of Mexicali, Mexico, earned an Olympic gold medal in the decathlon, studied nursing abroad in South Africa, volunteer at the Azusa Food Bank, and so much more.
