The end of the school year is approaching quickly! Spring closing is typically a high-stress time of year for students, with the combination of final exams and packing to move out of their rooms. Here are some quick tips to cover with your students now to help reduce the tension at the end of the semester:

• If your student is coming home for Easter or any weekend in April, have them pack anything they will not need for the last month of classes and bring it home!
• Encourage your student to start cleaning and organizing their room for closing as early as possible. Charges may be applied to students' accounts if Housing staff has to do extra clean-up after the halls close.
• If your student has any maintenance concerns in their room - from damaged screens to ripped fabric on furniture, desk or dresser drawers jammed, lights or outlets not working, etc., have them submit maintenance requests now, rather than let problems go to the end of the semester.
• Floor meetings will be held during April to provide students detailed information about hall closing. It is vital that your student attends these meetings...it can help reduce the damage and the cost of cleaning fees that can incur due to unknown policies and procedures.

As always, University Housing is glad to be of assistance if you have any questions! However, Housing is in transition too-offices are being moved out of Hotz Hall into the former Speech and Hearing Clinic Building (410 Arkansas Avenue), Pomfret Hall and Futrall Hall.

More information about the relocation process is on the Housing website.
