The University Career Development Center offers a variety of options for your student to seek advice and experience when it comes to anything career related. Whether they need help choosing a major or want to perfect their interview skills, the Career Development Center is a wonderful resource on campus.

One program that the Career Development Center is hosting this month is Career Fest, a week of professional development events for all University of Arkansas students. The event is designed to prepare and equip UofA students with the skills and knowledge necessary for career success. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn from knowledgeable employers and staff. The week will include an employer panel discussion, a dining etiquette dinner, networking and social media job search workshops, and drop-in resume reviews and mock interviews.

Pathways to Possibilities (Registration Required)
Monday, April 2, 2012 @ 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Multicultural Center 4th Floor Arkansas Union

This event is filled with opportunities for your student to get job search advice from top company leaders and to learn cutting edge job search strategies. The event begins with a panel discussion with leaders from some of the premier companies in Northwest Arkansas. Get job/internship advice and the inside scoop on what employers are really seeking from candidates. Afterwards, students will learn how to network and also connect with alumni and employers who may have the keys to their career success. Finally, students not getting the results they desire in their job/internship search? Learn how social media may be able to get them the results they are seeking.

Dining Etiquette Dinner (Registration Required)

Arkansas Alumni House (on corner of Maple & Razorback Rd.)

Employers often use dining situations to interview and screen prospective job candidates. Students can attend this event and explore through interactive games and role-play factors that promote a more polished and positive image during a business dinner. Participants will also learn social networking skills and techniques that will enhance their image and business savvy. A full meal will be served.

Drop-in Resume Reviews (Must bring a draft copy of your resume)
8:30am - noon & 1:30pm - 4:30pm

It's usually a great resume that gets students the interview. Students need to make sure their resume is polished and represents them in the best possible way. Participants can have their resume critiqued by career counselors trained to provide them with feedback that will get their resume noticed. Don't worry about scheduling an appointment. Students just need to bring a copy of their current resume and drop- in during the hours listed.

Drop-in Mock Interviews
8:30am - noon & 1:30pm - 4:30pm

The Mock Interview is a safe place to practice interview skills and gain feedback. Students can drop-in for a mock interview and learn to:
• Practice interviewing
• Develop interviewing strategies
• Reduce your anxiety and nervousness before your actual interview
• Create a good first impression
• Communicate your skills clearly
• Answer difficult questions
