Hello Parents,

Now that your student has made Boulder his/her home-away-from-home, let me tell you about Boulder and all there is to do here. This community is enriched with natural beauty, hip urban culture and a vibrant love of the outdoors. TripAdvisor named Boulder one of the “Top 25 Destinations in the US” and one of the “Top 100 Destinations in the World.” Plus, Boulder is easy to get to – just 40 minutes from Denver International Airport and 35 minutes from downtown Denver.

Renting a bike is a fun way to see the town and experience Boulder as a local. The Boulder Creek Path meanders right through historic downtown. It runs along Boulder Creek. Some of it is paved, some is dirt and there are spots to stop, get off your bike and enjoy the creek. In addition to this path, Boulder has more than 200 miles of biking and hiking trails.

While Boulder is known to be one of America’s most enthusiastically outdoorrecreation- focused communities, it is also a top dining destination. Boulder’s restaurants and chefs have been highlighted in Bon Appetit, Wine Spectator, Gourmet, and Food and Wine magazines. The Farm-to-Table trend is prevalent due to our local farmers, a spirited entrepreneurial natural foods industry and a thriving, worldclass restaurant scene.

The Pearl Street Mall is the heart and soul of Boulder. It is located in historic downtown Boulder and another place to check out the local scene in town. Twenty Ninth Street is the spot to find all the major national retailers and The Hill is across the street from the university and where you’ll find the shops that your student talks about.
