CU Buffs Football
2010 Season
As the program enters its 13th decade of football at the University of Colorado, optimism surrounding the team is high. The Buffaloes return 57 lettermen from a 2009 team that played eight of its 12 games against bowl opponents while outscoring the Big 12 north (Nebraska) and south (Texas) division champions a combined 34-31 if you take the non-offensive touchdowns out. The offense returns nine of 11 starters, including all five offensive linemen, while the defense returns seven starters.
As it always is, a tough schedule awaits the Buffaloes, including the return of the Colorado-Colorado State game to Invesco Field to kick off the season. The Buffs travel to California and host Hawai’i and Georgia before play in the nation’s toughest conference gets underway.
The bookend rivalry games remain the same, with the Rams opening the season and a trip to visit the Huskers for the final game during Thanksgiving weekend, making this the eighth time in the last nine seasons the Buffs have rivarly games to open and close the regular season. The Buffs will also pay a season-long tribute to its sole National Championship squad from 1990, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
