Q: What is the best time to arrive in Boulder?
A: We recommend that you arrive in Boulder Friday morning (this may require you to fly into Denver Thursday afternoon or evening). Family Weekend check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. and events begin at 9:30 a.m. (except for the golf tournament, which begins between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. at Colorado National Golf Club in Erie — a 30 minute drive from Boulder).
The majority of free events available to registered Family Weekend participants occur during the day on Friday and on Saturday morning. The last scheduled event is the 5K Fun Run on Sunday morning. Consequently, we recommend that you plan to depart the Boulder area Sunday afternoon.
Q: Is it appropriate to bring my student’s sibling(s) to Family Weekend?
A: Siblings are welcome to attend Family Weekend activities, but keep in mind that most of the ticketed events may sell out. Events are intended for adults and college-aged students. As a result, teenaged siblings may also enjoy the events, but younger siblings may not.
That said, Boulder is a family-friendly town and there are many events and activities of interest to younger children that are not necessarily affiliated with the Family Weekend program. The Boulder Convention and Visitors Bureau has information for visitors of all ages.
Q: If I need to rent golf clubs for the Friday Golf Tournament, where would you suggest I do so?
A: Colorado National Golf Club has a limited number of rental clubs available to rent. Please call Colorado National at (303) 926-1723 to reserve your rental clubs.
Q: Where can I find a list of religious services in and around Boulder?
A: A list of services was prepared by the United Campus Ministries at CU and can be found on the Family Weekend FAQ's web site. The list includes both campus ministries and local community congregations since not all campus ministries have weekend services. Please call ahead to confirm their service schedules.
Q: What are the bookstore hours during Family Weekend?
A: Friday – 8:00 am until 6:00 pm, Saturday – 8:00 am until 5:30 pm, and Sunday – 10:00 am until 4:00 pm
