The Colorado College Parent Guide

Annual Giving

Posted in

Colorado College has a long history of challenging itself with the highest of aspirations and boldly achieving them. The institution’s mission of offering the finest liberal arts education in the country by providing its students with a unique intellectual adventure is no exception. It only makes sense then, that the college has undertaken the most ambitious fundraising challenge in its 135-year history with the Achieving Our Vision campaign.

Every gift to the college, no matter its size, is incredibly important to making the adventure possible. Dedicated, loyal annual donors make a huge difference in the form of financial aid, faculty support and campus infrastructure. We hope CC parents will give to any purpose for which they feel a passion and give commensurately.
For those who choose to give unrestricted dollars, CC has established two gift societies to recognize some of its most generous leaders – the 1874 Society and the President’s Circle.

The 1874 Society, named for the year the college was founded, is a group of nearly 900 alumni, parents and friends who give $1,874 (or more) in unrestricted funds annually. The 1874 Society is chaired by Jacqueline Lundquist, wife of CC President Richard Celeste, and generates more than $1 million for the college each year.

The 1874 Society recognizes its members for their outstanding leadership and generosity by hosting many events on campus and across the country. From stimulating lectures with faculty to compelling performances and private receptions with leading scholars, these events connect members to the college in a variety of substantive and meaningful ways.

CC parents comprise nearly one-third of the 1874 Society’s members. It is an ideal way for parents to demonstrate their commitment and support of the college and remain engaged with the community in enjoyable ways. For more information, including pictures, videos, events, and membership lists, please check out the society’s interactive web site.

The President’s Circle is a distinguished group of alumni, parents and friends who are also devoted to sustaining the Colorado College’s excellence and ensuring its future.

Each year, President Richard F. Celeste applies President’s Circle funds to further specific initiatives aimed at advancing the college’s mission and goals. Membership in the President’s Circle requires a $10,000 investment, renewable annually.

The unrestricted funds raised by members of the President’s Circle and the 1874 Society – from new study abroad courses to lab supplies – are applied where they are needed most.
