Below are some commonly asked questions regarding what items are allowed in the residential buildings. The Pathfinder has a complete list of items. If your questions are not answered in the following section, please visit our website.
What does residential life provide in my room?
- An “extra-long” single bed, 36”x80” mattress
- A closet or bureau to hang clothing and a chest of drawers
- A desk and chair
- Draperies or miniblinds
- Mirror
- Wastebasket
- Wall or ceiling light
- Ethernet connection and/or wireless connection
- Microfridge
- Personal safe
- The above items must remain in the student room during the year.
Are there things not provided that I may bring for my room?
- Pillow, bedspread, sheets, and blankets for extra-long bed
- Towels and wash cloths, other personal toiletries
- Telephone (avoid 2.4 GHz cordless phones, as they can interfere with Colorado College’s wireless network.)
- Fans
- UL-approved extension cords and fused surge protector (a must for computers and stereos)
- Clothes hangers
- UL-approved electronics such as computer, lamp, radio, alarm clock, answering machine, coffee maker with automatic shut-off, etc.
Are there items that are prohibited in the residential buildings?
- Electrical appliances: halogen lamps, electric blankets, space heaters, heat lamps, etc.
- No animals, other than fish or crustaceans that live under water.
- Kitchen equipment: hot plates, broilers, additional refrigerator and microwave, toasters, griddles, crock pots, toaster ovens, heating coils, electric frying pans, and blenders.
- Weapons: guns of any kind (pellet guns, paintball guns, air guns), ammunition, smoke devices, bow and arrow, large knives, fireworks, and firecrackers are prohibited.
- Flammable items: incense, candles, gasoline, propane, sterno, and hookahs are prohibited.
- Waterbeds and furniture lofts.
- Excessive amounts of furniture.
