CSU-Pueblo Student Success Stories

Brian Powell
Current Job: Control Room Engineer with Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua (GCC) in Pueblo, CO
Major: Engineering Emphasis: Mechatronics
Enrolled: Fall 2005 – May 2010
Starting pay: 50k
As a Control Room Engineer for a cement plant called GCC, I am at least 10 years younger than every other person in the position that I'm in and couldn't be happier with my decision to go to CSU-Pueblo.
The entire plant uses equipment like programmable logic controllers (PLC) and robots that I learned about in my Industrial Robotics class so I’ve seen a direct link between my classes and my current job.

Jeff Bazanele
Currently a junior applying to medical school.
Major: Spanish
Minor: Chemistry & Chicano Studies
Enrolled: Fall 2008-Spring 2012
My educational experience here at CSU-Pueblo has been much more than I expected. From presenting research at the 7th International Conference on Chicano Literature in León, Spain, to my Study Abroad experience in Madrid, Spain, I have learned new customs, a new culture, and made connections and friends from around the world. Since the first day I started my studies here, there hasn’t been a professor who doesn’t know me personally and who hasn’t helped me academically. I know I will be accepted to a “premier” medical school because I took advantage of experiences here that will allow me to stand out from other candidates.

Augustine Agyei
Major: Economics
Enrolled: Fall 2009-August 2010
My experience at CSU- Pueblo was an overall great experience both academically and personally. I learned from qualified and enthusiastic teachers in the business school who are passionate in their respective areas. Many classes used real-life examples, and hands-on activities, paired with technology that helped enhance my education. As a former CSU-Pueblo football player, I competed at a high level thanks to new facilities and great coaches who helped make a great experience for everyone.

Toni Daze
Current Job: DJ. - Toni Diesel Magic FM 98.9 Colorado Springs w/Citadel Broadcasting
Major: Mass Communications
Emphasis: Broadcasting
Enrolled: Fall 2006 - Spring 2010
I can’t say enough good things about the University. From the first day I sat in the first broadcasting class, I fell in love with radio. From there I became involved in the campus radio station, Rev 89, and never looked back! It’s a completely hands-on experience at CSU-Pueblo, so I was able to take the skills I had been learning for four years into the real world and thrive. The professors were great educators and role models and helped me discover my true passion. I left CSU-Pueblo feeling that I had obtained a well-rounded and balanced education.
