Parents, imagine for a moment, for the first time you have left your home and family and all that you have known to begin a monumental chapter in your life. You find yourself surrounded by thousands who are searching to find their place in a world of so many choices and decisions. You are living on your own, making your own choices, and charting a path for your future. You are unsure of what the future may hold and the thought of being away from all that is familiar for four years seems like an eternity.

These are the feelings many of us have experienced, and the feelings being felt right now by college freshmen everywhere. The most developmental part of students' lives will occur during their college career, and their college experiences will dictate this growth. Associated Students is proud to boast a program that eases Chico State freshman into their first year of college by helping them map out their education experience while growing personally and professionally.

The Freshman Leadership Opportunity (FLO) program is an exclusive leadership development experience that delivers the opportunity for college freshmen to better understand who they are and how they can utilize their strengths to help the world around them. FLO also helps students develop professionally by providing internship placement opportunities on campus, and training for job interviews, teamwork development, time management, budgeting, and program logistics. FLO is an outstanding way for Chico State freshmen to network with other students, be mentored by upperclassmen, and build relationships and connections with university administration.

FLO students leave their experience with not only better understanding who they are as people, but knowing they have hearts and hands of service for those who need it most. For more information about FLO, please contact:
