Money Matters
The California State University Board of Trustees has approved a two-step tuition increase for current students. A mid-year increase of five percent will go into effect January 1, 2011 for the spring semester. A ten percent annual increase has also been approved, effective fall 2011. More information regarding the fee increases is available at http://www.calstate.edu/pa/News/2010/release/TuitionIncrease11.10.10.shtml. Spring 2011 fees are due by December 9, 2011. Fees paid after this date, will be assessed a late charge. Financial aid offers for the spring 2011 semester are being revised to reflect the fee increase.
Please do not miss the deadline for completing the University Scholarship Application. The form is only available until December 15, 2010, and must be completed every year of planned attendance. Chico State also requires scholarship applicants to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have at least one Online Letter of Recommendation submitted for them. Many scholarships also require the completion of a supplemental scholarship application. More information and access to the necessary forms is available at http://www.csuchico.edu/fa/scholarships/index.shtml.
For students who find themselves in a bind, short-term loans might be available. Regularly admitted students who are enrolled for fall 2010 are eligible to apply for a maximum $500 short-term loan. The Short-Term Loan application will be available till the end of the semester. December 15 is the last date to apply for a fall semester short-term loan for pick-up date of December 17. Short-term loan checks can be picked up in Student Financial Services SSC 230. More information regarding short-term loans is available at http://www.csuchico.edu/fa/typesOfAid/loans/types/shortTerm.shtml.
