For me, the events leading up to Family Weekend 2009 were filled with eagerness and excitement. This was my first big event as a student intern in the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations. The office staff worked diligently to create a weekend that would create a family atmosphere for parents to enjoy as they visited their students here in the Chico community.

Chico State will hold Family Weekend October 8-11, 2009. This event will celebrate the role families play in the lives of our students.

The main event for the weekend is the Family Barbecue held on Saturday, October 10, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on the Kendall Lawn. Barbecue tickets are $12 each and can be purchased in person at the University Box Office, over the phone, 530-898-6333, by fax, 530-898-5261, or online. The barbecue order form is available here. Menu for the barbecue includes barbecue chicken or veggie burgers, pasta salad, baked beans, fruit salad, chocolate chip cookies, and soft drinks. Students are required to have a ticket for lunch. This event is open to everyone, so please feel free to bring the whole family! Tickets must be purchased in advance by October 1, 2009.
