The Book in Common for 2011-2012 is Zeitoun by Dave Eggers. Six years after the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina, Eggers writes an amazing true story of a real-life hero Abdulrahman Zeitoun. The book recalls Zeitoun's heroic acts such as offering help to many of his neighbors by canoe.  Zeitoun paddled from house to house attempting to rescue anyone that was in desperate need of help. The novel takes a dark turn as Zeitoun is accused and arrested as a "suspected terrorist."
