Career Planning Resources for Students
Whether your student is a freshman or senior, Career Development can assist at any stage of a student's career planning. Students are encouraged to get involved with the Career Development office as soon as possible to take advantage of the many resources available to them. There are certain steps students can take each year to help students manage the very important task of choosing a career.
Freshman Year: Become familiar with the resources at www.careers.dom.edu and take advantage of the many workshops and campus events. Meet with a career advisor to draft a resume or for help selecting a major.
Sophomore Year: Select a DU Mentor to give you advice in your chosen major. Participate in the on-campus job/internship fairs each semester to start exploring internship opportunities.
Junior Year: Revise your resume and develop a cover letter with a career advisor. Participate in the internship program and gain academic credit for the experience. Research graduate/professional schools if you plan to pursue an advanced degree.
Senior Year: Meet with a career advisor to develop a job search plan. Participate in the Etiquette Dinner to learn all about dining in a business setting. Evaluate job offers and report acceptance to Career Development.
