Dominican University's Rosary College of Arts and Sciences now offers two new undergraduate minor concentrations in social justice and civic engagement as well as women and gender studies. Students must take between 18 and 24 credits to complete a minor.

The minor in social justice and civic engagement allows students to deepen their civic engagement and service to the community while studying emerging research in this field. Students study issues such as service leadership, public ethics, human rights, social change and the global pursuit of the common good. In order to get hands-on experiences of these issues, students participate in service learning and do community-based research for local non-profit organizations and agencies.

The women and gender studies minor is an interdisciplinary program that addresses the dynamics of gender, race, ethnicity, class, sexuality and power. Students explore how the questions of gender are embedded in different fields of study in a liberal arts and sciences education. In addition to overview courses on women and gender, students take classes on how this topic influences other fields such as American studies, communications, criminology, English, political science, psychology, sociology, theatre arts and theology.
