Dominican University Update: So far, DU has not experienced a level of flu activity that would interfere with our learning environment, thanks to the cooperation of the entire community with efforts to prevent and safely manage the flu. This thanksgiving we are grateful for:
Chartwells at Dominican University welcomed students back for the Fall 2009 semester with several upgrades to the dining program. We introduced new menu items in our main Pulse on Dining® location. In the Cyber Café we introduced 2.MatoTM, one of the first in the United States, featuring pizzas and exclusive "pizzans" made from fresh vegetables and traditional Italian sauces. We also opened Pura Vida in the Cyber Café, offering triple-certified coffees. Pura Vida donates a percentage of Dominican's coffee sales to support growers and their communities.
The week of September 21, 2009 Chartwells featured a "Eat Local" campaign designed to offer not only locally grown produce to Dominican's students but also introduce them to the farmers we work with every day to supply seasonal, fresh, local produce.
In October we partnered with the University to educate Dominican students about what we do every day to support sustainability at the University. All of the elements below have been incorporated into the dining program:
