Florida International University Parent Guide
Homecoming and Parent & Family Weekend
Ever wonder what it's like to be a FIU Golden Panther? Come find out! Our fifth annual Homecoming and Parent & Family Weekend will be filled with fun opportunities for participants to experience life at FIU. Homecoming and Parent & Family Weekend is a time for you to spend time with your students on campus, experience campus activities, meet university staff and faculty, and reunite with the Orientation staff. Homecoming and Parent & Family Weekend offers you the opportunity to celebrate your student's experience at the university and observe the transition they are making to university life.
The 2008 events marked the first time the university combined Homecoming and Parent & Family Weekend, and participants enjoyed having the opportunities to participate in some of the big traditions associated with Homecoming week. We're looking forward to the combined events again this year, and have provided a fantastic schedule of events for the whole family!
The weekend gets started with the Homecoming Parade around the Modesto A. Maidique Campus, featuring Dr. Mark B. Rosenberg - FIU's newest President - as the Grand Marshall. A Homecoming Pep Rally will follow in the Housing Quad, complete with entertainment and events sure to raise spirit and pride!
The weekend continues with annual events like the Interfraternity Council Parent & Family Weekend 5K Family Fun Run, the Division of Student Affairs Brunch, and the Homecoming Football game against the University of North Texas, and also includes some new events showcasing the Frost Art Museum, among others.
