Welcome from the Dean of Students
Dear Parents and Family Members of Florida State University Students,
We are so glad you and your student have selected Florida State as your new home and welcome all of you to the FSU Family. While your sons and daughters are enrolled at FSU, they will have many opportunities to learn new material, experience many joys and challenges, and establish pathways toward their impending career. Our hope is that we can partner with you to help them create the healthiest and most successful experience possible.
The Dean of Students Department is here to help and serve as an advocate if your son or daughter needs assistance or wants to get involved on campus. The Department is comprised of six different Offices: New Student and Family Programs, Greek Life, Student Disability Resource Center, Student Rights and Responsibilities, Withdrawal Services, and Victim Advocate Program. Through each of these Offices and the overall Department, the staff members work to assist students and their families as well as hold students accountable to campus expectations.
The staff in New Student and Family Programs has worked to put this publication together for you and believe it will serve as a good resource for you as you learn to negotiate the Tallahassee community. If you have questions or concerns about this publication or about FSU in general, we invite you to contact our Department at (850) 644-2428.
We are excited about the opportunity to work with you and your family and once again welcome you to the community.
Sincerely,
Jeanine A. Ward-Roof, PhD
Dean of Students
