April: A Month of Pride, Cultural Awareness and Mason Spirit

April is one of the busiest months at Mason. Each week in April there is something exciting happening on campus that celebrates a unique aspect of the Mason community.

Pride Week: April 9-14
Pride Week is full of activities dedicated to raising awareness for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning (LGBTQ) population through informative and fun events and activities. The week includes events such as speakers, performers, panel discussions, a dance party, poetry readings, open mic events, as well as the annual Drag Show. For a complete list of events, please visit the Pride Week website.

International Week: April 14-21
International Week has been a tradition at George Mason University for over 30 years. This week is dedicated to celebrating the presence of the university’s international and multicultural student population. For students, International Week at Mason provides an opportunity to share their cultural heritages.

International/Multicultural Recognized Student Organizations promote a variety of activities such as international music and dance performances, a fashion show and a cricket tournament. For more information, visit the International Week website.

Earth Week: April 16-22
Mason’s celebration of Earth Week in 2012 features many opportunities to learn about environmental sustainability as well as Mason’s commitment to leadership in environmental research and action. Mason promotes awareness and appreciation for the environment through volunteer opportunities, awareness campaigns, a number of events, speakers and programs across campus. For more information, visit the GMU Earth Week website.

Mason Week: April 23-28
One of Mason’s oldest standing traditions, Mason Week is a series of entertainment events for students leading up to the annual Mason Day event and concert. Mason Week offers a comedy show, concert, carnival and a Kings Dominion trip in conjunction with Siblings Day which takes place on April 28. For more information, visit the Mason Week website.

We invite students, families and everyone in our Mason community to join us for a month of great events and entertainment!
