IIT Students Can Study Abroad?

Posted in

Have you ever thought about your son or daughter studying in another country? The thought may excite, worry, and even terrify you all at once. This is completely normal. What’s abnormal, on the other hand, is your son or daughter actually studying abroad as an undergraduate. Did you know that less than 3% of all undergraduates nationwide pursue education abroad as part of their degree? At technical schools like the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), the percentage of students studying abroad is even lower than the national average (about 1%). The most common misconceptions about study abroad are that it will cost more money and delay graduation. The International Center at IIT works with students to ensure they graduate on time by reviewing credits/courses prior to departure, financial aid procedures, and finding the perfect study abroad program that best meets the students’ expectations. We encourage students to study in another country – namely to experience a different academic and scholarly perspective, but also to learn about another culture. Additionally, if your son or daughter decides to study abroad he/she will join a small percentage of students that have studied and lived in another country. Moreover, when applying for a job after graduation (and/or to graduate school) this overseas experience will set your son or daughter a part from the rest of the pack.
