Housing & Residential Services

Housing & Residential Services at Illinois Institute of Technology operates student, guest, and conference housing. Our mission is to empower residents by providing leadership opportunities and support services that foster community development, academic success, and personal growth. The department provides a quality living environment which promotes the well-being of campus residents and guests through well maintained facilities and accommodations.

The residence halls offer a focused and dynamic living and learning environment. In fact, 2,100 students live on campus and make their “home away from home” in our seven residence halls and four apartment buildings. In addition, Housing & Residential Services coordinates operational efforts with two university-affiliated sorority houses.
First year students not living with a parent or legal guardian must live in the residence halls. Rates, housing options, and other campus housing information is available on the Housing & Residential Services website.

Residence Hall Handbook

The Residence Hall Handbook provides resident guidelines and expectations in tandem with the Room and Board Contract. Students living in Gunsaulus Hall, McCormick Student Village, and State Street Village are expected to be familiar with all policies and procedures in the Residence Hall Handbook. Each resident receives a copy of the Residence Hall Handbook upon check in. Additional copies of the handbook may be obtained from Housing & Residential Services. A downloadable PDF is also available online.

Room Cancellation Policy

All Room and Board Contracts are for the entire academic year. Should a student want to cancel their Room and Board Contract, they must review the Cancellation Terms and submit an online Cancellation Form. Standard cancellation fees are also listed on the Room and Board Contract.
