Student Government Association (SGA)

Illinois Institute of Technology’s Student Government Association (SGA) and its members dedicate themselves to improving academics, student life, and student-administrator communications. SGA proudly draws students from every academic college and type of residence to create proportional representation for the whole student body. SGA impacts large and small-scale change for the benefit of students in every part of the university. Reopening the BOG, publishing professor evaluations, making the library open 24 hours, 5 days a week, switching student emails to Google are examples of how SGA has made Illinois Tech a better university through the students voices.

All SGA projects are conceived and carried out by students for students. Inside of SGA, students learn real-world skills such as critical thinking, negotiation, research, public speaking, and professionalism. Members of SGA are among the most skilled and passionate students in the student body, and the work of SGA hones their existing skills even further. Every student is encouraged to come to the meetings, join a committee, or run in elections.
