Metra trains on the Rock Island line will be stopping on campus within the next 12 months. This may seem like a long time to wait but the promise of a Metra stop has existed since, at least, 2001. Metra broke ground on June 29, 2009 and construction began on Monday, November 16th. This is an exciting event for faculty, staff, and students living in the Southwest suburbs. Sox fans can also benefit from this new addition to 35th street.
 
The Lovana S. "Lou" Jones/Bronzeville Stationnamed named after the Assistant Majority Leader for the State of Illinois is expected to open in fall 2010.

Several students have fallen ill this season with flu-like symptoms (fever, coughing, and body aches, etc.), and Student Health Services and Human Resources would like to take the opportunity to remind the IIT community of how to minimize your risk and stay healthy, and what to do if you become sick with the flu. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines state that only patients whose illness requires hospitalization will be tested for the H1N1 flu strain, so it is important to treat all flu-like illnesses with the same level of caution.
