A Partnership for Academic Excellence
University College welcomes your student to IUPUI. We are entering into a partnership for his/her academic success. We ask you to commit to this partnership as well.
The university will provide resources to help your student reach his/her academic goals. His/her responsibility is to work at his/her highest academic level and to strive for academic excellence in his/her studies.
Our Role in this Partnership is to Help Your Student:
- Acquire the information he/she needs to take advantage of the educational opportunities available to him/her.
- Define his/her goals and plan appropriate academic programs and strategies.
- Meet the requirements for entry into a degree-granting school.

Your Student’s Role in this Partnership
- Get to know his/her professors. Visit their offices. Ask questions. Take advantage of their love of teaching and their intellectual excitement for their subject area.
- Stay in contact with his/her academic advisor. Feel welcome to discuss any factors that may affect his/her work and his/her success at IUPUI.
- Attend all his/her classes.
- Complete all his/her assignments on time.
- Allow sufficient time for out-of-class learning. We recommend three hours of outside study (assignments, reading, participation in mentoring, academic clubs, service projects, etc.) per week for each credit hour of class.
- Enjoy the intellectual challenges and opportunities that his/her decision to attend IUPUI will bring to him/her.
This Partnership for Academic Excellence is a cooperative approach between University College and your student for his/her academic success. Each understands and agrees to the roles and responsibilities stated. This is not a binding contract or a legal document; rather it is a sincere good faith expression of a partnership to help your student achieve his/her academic goals.
