Education Abroad

Global learning enhances your student’s professional potential and competencies for participating responsibly in today’s complex, interdependent world. Through an interdisciplinary and experiential approach to global learning, the Education Abroad Office at KSU has created numerous opportunities for students to immerse themselves in another culture.

We offer over 40 short-term faculty-led education abroad programs in over 25 exciting locations around the world. These programs offer both general education and major credits that can apply towards your student’s degree.  Because of the wide variety of programs available, it is never too early or too late to study abroad!  Our faculty program directors conduct comprehensive pre-departure orientations to help prepare students for their experiences abroad. While abroad, students will learn first hand about other countries and cultures. The Education Abroad Office also offers semester and year-long experiences that are the same or comparable in price to a semester at KSU.

Degree-seeking students at KSU who are in good academic standing are eligible to receive the Global Learning Scholarship for any KSU-approved education abroad experience.  These scholarships are funded by the Global Learning fee, which is assessed to every student at KSU every semester. Your student is already paying for education abroad; they should take advantage of the opportunity!  Scholarship amounts range from $500-$2,000.

Upon completion of their education abroad experiences, students are encouraged to apply for KSU’s Global Engagement Certification (GEC). The GEC formally recognizes student achievement of valuable global learning in the areas of global perspectives, intercultural skills and global citizenship. This is a special distinction that students can receive on their transcript and will endorse their global skills, knowledge and attitudes achieved while a student at KSU.
