Kennesaw State University Parent Guide
What is the Student Development Office?
Many students come to the student center here at KSU to try and find a "place" to hang out, to study, and to make friends. Our Student Development office is a great place for students to come to get plugged in here at KSU. Our office assists specific student populations in their journey to attaining a college degree. Specific student populations include international, multicultural, non-traditional, and students with disabilities. Events and activities from Student Development are designed to enhance participation in university life and to foster academic and personal enrichment. This department also coordinates student volunteers with volunteer service opportunities through Volunteer KSU and provides new students with the opportunity to be matched with a mentor through the Odyssey Peer Mentoring program.
The office facilitates a spirit of humanitarianism, community service, and appreciation of our diverse student population through its programming and support services. Programs and activities are provided in a stimulating and challenging atmosphere which fosters critical thinking, social responsibility, an understanding of differences among people and ideas, and lifelong learning. Student Development offers several computer labs, peer tutoring, and space for studying and social networking. Student Development is located on the second floor of the Carmichael Student Center in Suite 267. Please have your student come and check us out! There is always fun to be had in the SDO!
