Building Crisis Coordinators at KSU

Posted in

At the forefront of the KSU Security & Safety initiative is the Crisis Coordinator Program. Originally staffed by 35 volunteers, the Campus Crisis Coordinator Program has grown to over 200 volunteers, who are trained in Emergency Preparedness, Emergency Response, Crisis Mitigation, First Aid, CPR, the use of Automated External Defibrillators and Security Awareness.

KSU has noticed that many of the recent crises: Virginia Tech, Northern Illinois and other man made situations, are over within the first 3 minutes. So Kennesaw State University has trained and commissioned their Building Crisis Coordinators to act as “Immediate Responders” while the KSU Police and Cobb Fire are in route. Our Crisis Coordinators mitigate the immediate situation, such as provide First Aid, CPR, Building Evacuation, and/or Building Lock-down, while awaiting the arrival of police/fire/EMT assistance. In this way, immediate help is rendered along with trained support for sustained assistance.
