K-State’s Powercat Financial Counseling
Powercat Financial Counseling (PFC) is the first of its kind in the Kansas Board of Regents System and was recognized by VISA as an “Innovative Educator” program. PFC provides FREE information and education to K-State students who are seeking help with financial issues such as:
- budgeting
- credit use
- saving
- identity theft
- managing debt
- Expenses during and after college
Your student has the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a trained peer counselor. Each session is free and strictly confidential. Powercat Financial Counseling cannot give investment advice, interact with creditors, select a financial institution, give tax advice, or provide retirement planning.
Powercat Financial Counseling provides financial workshops for classes and student organizations. Based on the interests of the student group, topics can be general or specific like understanding employee benefits after college. PFC also has an interactive website where students are able to schedule appointments or workshops. They can also find many financial resources at the useful links section of the website and have access to online calculators, budget forms, loan repayment, and financial goals worksheets under the forms section.
Lastly if your student is interested in financial literacy they can apply to become a peer counselor. Students can get involved by joining the Student Advisory Board. For more information you can contact us at:
