Kansas State University Parent Guide

Welcome to K-State

Parents of the Wildcat Family,

I am excited to welcome you and your student to Kansas State University. At K-State, we are proud of our standing tradition of putting students first. Here you will find a collegiate atmosphere unique to our campus.

Rich in tradition while looking brightly towards the future, K-State offers a well-rounded collegiate experience for all students. With nine colleges, over 250 academic majors, multiple entertainment venues, and over 450 clubs and organizations - this truly is a campus for everyone. The Student Governing Association (SGA) serves as the communication link between students and administrators. SGA allocates over 14 million dollars in student fees to campus entities helping to provide services like the K-State Student Union, Lafene Health Center, Chester E. Peters Recreation Complex, student safety, campus entertainment and much more.

In the year ahead, Grant Hill, the Student Body Vice President, and I look forward to working with students, faculty, and administration to enhance the overall K-State experience. We look to establish a working relationship between a recently created administrative position, the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies, and student government to further improve students' academic advising and enrollment experience. As our campus continues on its path toward the 2025 Vision and student government prepares for the scheduled budget review of the Student Union, we will continue to look to top 50 public research institutions to evaluate their student life programs and services, and determine areas where we can grow, such as student design services. Finally, we pledge to maintain K-State's position as one of the most affordable universities in the Midwest by further improving existing programs using the resources we already have, funding innovative ways to achieve more with less, and working with campus administrators to keep tuition and fees as low as possible.

K-State is glad to welcome you to our campus and look forward to the year ahead.

K-State PROUD,

Nate Spriggs,
Student Body President, Kansas State University
