“It is important to carry on that tradition,” Megan Olney, legacy student and sophomore in hotel and restaurant management, said. “It’s fun to have the same school in common with family members and the sharing of stories.”

Throughout the ceremony, current K-State students will be joined by their family members in celebration of tradition and commitment to K-State. Parents, grandparents, siblings and other family members have the opportunity to pin their current K-State students, while passing on the tradition of honoring the purple and the white. Family members who are not alumni will be honored with the K-Stater by Choice recognition.

“I love being a K-State Legacy because I love the feeling I get when I realize what a true family K-State is for me and so many others,” Amanda Barrett, past legacy alumni and Admissions Representative, said. “Growing up my family taught me to love the wildcats from an early age. K-State has just always been part of my life.”

Participants will enjoy a delicious brunch, fun entertainment and partake in a memorable pinning ceremony. By taking part in the Legacy Pinning Ceremony, all participants with receive a special pin to remember the event.

There isn’t a better way to show your K-State pride, blending with family tradition than marking your family’s past, present and future with the K-State Legacy Pin.

“I chose to continue the tradition because it was a familiar place that sounded fun,” Olney said. “My parents both have stories about certain places on campus that I go to and it’s neat to think they were there thirty years ago.”
