The Center for Academic Support and Advising Services (CASAS) has 62 full-time faculty and staff in several departments with the goal of working in a focused manner for both you and your student.
Six Ways CASAS Invests in Your Student:
- Freshman Seminar (FRSM 101), the first class your student takes at LU, is an interactive, two-day seminar which provides an introduction to other students, our mission, distinctive Christian environment, and academic expectations.
- Professional Advisors, assigned by major, guide students through class registration, monitor progress toward graduation, create success plans, and promote career exploration.
- The Bruckner Learning Center (BLC) offers study skills courses, developmental math courses, and Tutoring and Testing Services. Tutoring is free in more than 35 different subject areas and the Math Success Lab is supervised by Developmental Math Professors and peer tutors. Testing Services offer CLEP tests and is also a make-up test site.
- The Office of Disability Academic Support (ODAS) assists with reasonable academic accommodations, an Assistive Technology Lab and the Hands of Liberty Deaf Office.
- Academic Retention provides personal mentoring, academic accountability, optional Freshman Learning Communities, and Academic Opportunity Program.
- The Career Center offers preparation for a four-year plan to equip students with tools and opportunities that coincide with their academic affairs to prepare for their future careers.
