Liberty University Parent Guide
Liberty OneCard
The Liberty OneCard serves as the official Liberty University identification card. The Liberty OneCard is a necessity to all who want to eat, check out books at the library, use the computer lab, ride the bus and cheer on the Flames this season. The card is also the tool required to select the student’s refund preference. Each semester the University releases millions of dollars in refunds; a decision made while activating the Liberty OneCard will determine how a refund will be delivered to the student.
The University partners with Higher One to produce the Liberty OneCard and disburse refunds. When the student receives their Liberty OneCard, instructions are included on how to activate the card. It is during the activation process that the student is prompted to select a refund preference. Each day the university provides Higher One with a list of students and the corresponding amounts of their refunds. Higher One then disburses the money based on the student’s refund preference on file. The student has the option to change their refund preference at any time. All changes made to the refund preference go into effect for future refunds.
Refunds resulting from a Parent Plus Loan will be sent directly to the parent by the University in the form of a check. If you would like your PLUS loan refunded to your student, submit a written authorization to the Financial Aid Office stating that your student may receive the refund from the PLUS loan.
Be sure to include your student’s name and ID number. Credits from credit/debit card payments are refunded back to the original form of payment.
Higher One provides Money 101, a basic guide on Budgeting, Saving Money, Smart Spending and One Account Tips. Money 101 can be found on our website. Simply click on the Money 101 tab.
