Liberty University Parent Guide
LU School of Business
As an academic dean, I’m serious about our students working diligently on their studies, studying to show themselves approved to God. At the same time, Liberty is a place to experience classical concerts, musical recitals, plays, historical sites in and around Lynchburg, international travel, mission trips and other activities that are abundantly available to our students.
For example, 20 minutes from campus is Appomattox Courthouse, where the Civil War ended. Then 30 minutes in the opposite direction is the National D-Day Memorial, commemorating the sacrifice of the soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines who landed on the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944. Liberty provides recitals, plays, musicals and drama, and trips to Europe are available for every student who wishes to experience the culture and climate of another continent.
It is so important that your son or daughter take very seriously the academic program, spending time to read and study his or her textbook, preparing for tests, working on classroom assignments and doing everything to maintain a high grade point average. Another significant part of the university experience, though, is learning about life, and sometimes that takes place outside the classroom. Encourage your son or daughter to explore some of these wonderful opportunities while they’re here at Liberty.
