Parking
Parking on the Coral Gables Campus
Parking privileges are extended to members of the University community including trustees, faculty, administrators, staff, students, vendors and visitors who have paid for, received and properly displayed a current, valid University of Miami parking permit. Every motor vehicle parked on the Coral Gables campus is required to display a valid University of Miami parking permit or pay the appropriate parking meter rate. Please note that permits are not allowed at meters or numbered stalls.
First-year resident students (students residing on the Coral Gables campus who are attending college on a full-time basis for the first time) are restricted from purchasing a parking permit to park a vehicle on the University of Miami’s Coral Gables campus. This policy applies to first-year students living in University of Miami student housing on the Coral Gables campus. First-year commuter students and first-year transfer students with 30 or more credits are exempt from this policy.
Eligible students may purchase only the permit appropriate to their University domicile: Resident or Discount for an on-campus address; Commuter or Discount for an off-campus address. University Village residents will receive a UV parking permit and do not need to apply online.
UV parking permit allows parking in the University Village North & South Garages only. University Village residents are prohibited from purchasing any other University of Miami parking permit, from UM metered parking, regardless of whether the meter is paid, or from parking anywhere on the Coral Gables campus regardless of whether a temporary day pass permit is displayed. Annual permits are valid August 1, 2010 through August 15, 2011.
Eligible students must apply for their appropriate parking permit via myUM, the University of Miami’s online system. If applying between July 1st and July 31st, we encourage you to choose the convenient home delivery option. If this option is not chosen, the parking permit must be picked up in person with a required ‘Cane Card ID and a valid vehicle registration in hand beginning the first week of August. Anyone applying after July 31st must also pick up the parking permit in person and may encounter a long wait.
Applying for a parking permit online does not constitute ownership of a parking permit. Permits are only valid once the physical permit is in your possession. The cost of the parking permit will appear as a charge to the student’s UM account once the permit is received.
Parking rules and regulations are available at the Parking and Transportation Services offices, via the Web site, or direct telephone inquiries to Parking and Transportation Services.
