Many part-time jobs are available for students who wish to earn extra spending money and obtain some valuable career-related experience. Students must complete the financial registration process in order to work.

There are two major work programs: Federal Work Study (students must be eligible based on federal financial aid criteria) and the University/Student Assistant (open to all registered University of Miami students, with a variety of part-time positions on and off campus).

The Miami Commitment Program is available in conjunction with the University’s merit scholarships and is available by invitation only to incoming freshmen.  Applications are due June 1. Selected students are notified prior to the start of the fall semester.

All students planning to work while at UM must bring the appropriate documentation for employment eligibility verification established by the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. To learn more about other requirements and the student employment process, take the brief online tutorial, How Work Works at UM, available on the Student Employment Web site.
