The Whitten University Center (UC), located in the heart of the Coral Gables campus, is the focal point for student activity. The UC offers students two spacious lounge areas where they can relax, plus ATMs, a branch office of the University Credit Union, copy center, food court, swimming pool, post office, convenience store, Ticketmaster, Follet’s Bookstore, Office of the Registrar, and Dining Services.
Also, the Rathskeller is temporarily located in the University Center while the new Student Activities Center and Rathskeller are under construction. The Information desk is located in the lower lounge; there a student can get details about campus activities and community events, check the Lost and Found for misplaced items, or take advantage of the nearby UPrint machine.
On the second floor, the UC is home to the Camner Academic Resource Center, the departments of Orientation and Commuter Student Involvement, Student Activities and Student Organizations, and the Butler Service and Leadership Center.
Several student organizations also have offices in the UC, including Student Government, The Miami Hurricane newspaper, the Ibis yearbook, Council of International Student Organizations (COISO), United Black Students, Federación de Estudiantes Cubanos (FEC), the Association of Commuter Students (ACS), and SpectrUM.
These organizations, as well as all the rest of the nearly 300 student organizations at UM, often take advantage of the UC meeting rooms and lounges which are available for group reservations for meetings and events.
